structural wire balustrading tie bars - SBS450 marine & rigging green wall / gardens lifting shackles

Hi-MOD Ball System F.A.Q.

  • Do I need any specialist machinery or tools to fit these products ?
    • If you are using the Swagless Compression Terminals then you do not need any special machinery - you can fit them using standard tools often found at home (a saw and a spanner). If you are using the Swage type then you will need a swaging machine to terminate the wire ends.

  • What material are the products made from? Will they rust?
    • All external parts are manufactured from marine grade stainless steel and they will not rust. The parts are finished to a very high standard.

  • What type of wire should I use?
    • The main construction of wire often used in balustrading is 7x7 or 7x19 strand. However, other constructions may be used depending on application.

  • Can I adjust the wire length if I have cut the wire too long and use the end fitting again?
    • If you have used compression terminals then the answer is Yes! If you have cut the wire too long, simply dismantle the end fitting, cut the wire to the correct size and re-apply the end fitting.

  • How Strong are the wires?
    • The ball is designed to pull out of the socket with a load of about 500 Kgs. This is to prevent permanent damage to the posts.

  • Do my upright posts have to be wooden?
    • No! The upright posts can be made from any material. The Hi-MOD ball system has an end fitting suitable for sqaure plate, round tubes, wooden posts or brick walls. In fact, anything which is strong enough to suport the wires can be used.

  • Can the products be used vertically as well as horizontally?
    • Yes! The Hi-MOD ball system can be used on vertical, horizontal or diagonal wires.
