The adjacent leisure centre caters for a range of activities from badminton to football and, after a short induction, the use of the gym. Mountain bikes can also be hires which is ideal for taking advantage of the many cycle ways stretching to the coast, Prudhoe or even Hadrian's Wall. There are also two golf clubs within a 15 minute drive. The Tyne is well used by anglers for both coarse and salmon fishing. One-day or 8-day licenses can be obtained at any Post Office for those who do not hold a national licence.

The countryside Park has information on nature trails and local flora and fauna. We also supply a booklet of short walks which can be taken from the lodge. Information on other local attractions and places of interest can be obtained from the lobby within the lodge or from the nearby Country Park Information Centre, the closest being the site of the Battle of Newburn which took place in 1640 between English troops and Scottish Covenantors.
