The Keelman's Lodge and Public house are situated in the grounds of the Big Lamp Brewery (the North East's oldest Micro Brewery) in the village of Newburn. The beautiful surrounding areas and country park compliment the traditional style of this listed building. The Keelman's Lodge, Pub and Brewery benefit from a blend of contemporary and traditional styling resulting in an excellent atmosphere. The Keelman is a traditional style pub boasting an open design which is ideal for disabled visitors. It is well known for its excellent food and fine ales which are brewed in the adjoining brewery using traditional methods. The Keelman's Lodge is a purpose-built accommodation lodge which stands in its own grounds on the edge of the Tyne Riverside Country Park. Only 5 miles from Newcastle and 3 miles from the Metro Centre, it is easily accessible by both public and private transport and 10 minutes from Newcastle Airport. The 14 rooms, all with en suite facilities, contain either 1 double and 1 single bed or 1 king size double bed. Standard are colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities. Full English breakfast is taken in the Keelman, a Grade II listed building opposite. One room is suitable for wheelchair access and all rooms have designated free parking spaces. The staff are very welcoming to families, and the menu and adventure playground outside reflect this. An added bonus for adults is that the Brewery that supplies the Keelman's award-winning real ale is next door. |
