Chester are still looking for their first point after going down 4-3 at home to Ryton. Ryton nearly took the lead after 2 minutes when Ryan Bell got to the right by-line and hit a low cross across the face of the goal but neither of the waiting forwards could make any contact. Chester took the lead after 4 minutes when the ball was played through to David Tait on the left and he raced on to slip the ball past the keeper. After 17 minutes, The ball was played wide right to Scott Emmerson who made a deep cross to the far side which was met by Josh Home-Jackson but his header was deflected for a corner. From the corner, Nicholas Kane saw his header clip the top of the bar. Two minutes later, David Tait beat a defender on the left and hit a good, low cross into the area where Josh Home-Jackson saw his shot crash off the bar from close range. The rebound fell to Scott Emmerson but his shot went wide of the post. Ryton drew level after 21 minutes when Rob Draper was penalised for a foul inside the area and Craig Marron fired in from the spot kick. After 31 minutes. Dean Patton crashed a shot against the bar and two minutes later Ryton went in front. A cross was played in from the right and Liam Bell nipped in to head in at the near post. Chester equalised after 38 minutes. Nicholas Kane won possession in midfield and passed to Craig Price on the left. He cut into the area but saw his shot blocked by the keeper. The ball broke for Scott Emmerson to fire in the rebound. Ryton created a good chance after 40 minutes when the ball was played in from the right to Dean Patton but he failed to make a good contact and the chance went begging. Chester regained the lead in first-half stoppage time when Scott Emmerson broke into the box and lifted the ball over the keeper as he raced out. Ryton equalised after 58 minutes when Andrew Inness fired in a shot which brought a good save from Josh Carmichael. However, the ball flew into the ait and Liam Bell was quickest to react and he headed in. Chester had a chance to regain the lead after 62 minutes when David Tait broke through but the keeper made a good block. The following minute, Craig Marron curled a free kick into the area but the header from Andrew Barclay brought another good save from Josh Carmichael. The game continued to sway from end-to-end. After 66 minutes, a long ball from Luke Gilhespy found Danny Petts but he failed to chip the keeper. Chester created another good opportunity after 78 minutes when Scott Emmerson and Rob Draper exchanged passes before the ball reached Josh Home-Jackson but he fired just over the bar. Ryton made a quick break but Dean Patton headed just wide of the post. Ryton netted what proved to be the winning goal after 79 minutes when the ball was crossed from the right over to the left and it was returned into the middle for Dean Patton to fire in. Another disappointing result after having sufficient chances to have picked up something from the game.
