Chester gained their first victory of the season with a 4-1 scoreline over Morpeth. Chester created their first chance after 7 minutes when Nathan Fisher was played through but his low shot was easily saved by keeper Jak Wells. Chester took the lead after 20 minutes when Nathan Fisher curled a left-wing corner toward the far post for Andy Armstrong to climb well and power in a header. Chester had another good chance after 34 minutes when some good play by Nathan Fisher saw him cross into the middle for Josh Home-Jackson to lay the ball off to Rob Draper but he fired well over from a good position. After 28 minutes, Craig Price drove a free kick from the right low towards goal but the keeper managed to finger tip away for a corner. Two minutes later, Luke Gilhespy played the ball through for Nathan Fisher to go around the keeper but his shot from a narrow angle was blocked by a defender. From the corner the ball was only cleared to the edge of the area but Nathan Fisher fired over the bar. Morpeth had their first opening after 34 minutes the ball was played into the middle for Marc Walton to strike a good volley but Josh Carmichael made a good save. On the stroke of half-time, Chester had another good chance to increase their lead when Craig Price hit a free kick into the area but Josh Home-Jackson just failed to make contact and the ball drifted past the post. A good first half performance where we should have turned our dominance into more goals ! Chester doubled their lead after 48 minutes. Craig Price played a quick free kick to Nathan Fisher on the left and he fired low into the corner of the net. Chester went further ahead after 55 minutes when Craig Price hit a long-range effort into the bottom corner. Morpeth pulled a goal back after 59 minutes when Marc Walton broke into the box on the right and chipped over the keeper into the net. Nathan Fisher continued to cause the Morpeth defence problems and after 65 minutes he broke down the right and crossed low to the far side for Robert Palmer to run in and fire home. After 70 minutes Marc Walton found himself in another good position but his firm shot brought an excellent save from Josh Carmichael. After 73 minutes Nathan Fisher made another good run and crossed from the right for Craig Price to shoot but the keeper made a good save. Morpeth nearly pulled a goal back after 86 minutes but Marc Walton saw his shot hit the bar. An excellent performance and a very welcome victory.
