Chester conceded two late goals as they went down 2-0 at Ashington. Chester defended against a strong wind in the first half but defended well to prevent Ashington any clear sight of goal. Chester only created one chance of note after 39 minutes when Nathan Fisher cut in from the left to pull the ball back to Josh Home-Jackson. He squared the ball to the unmarked Craig Price but his shot was blocked by a defender. After 53 minutes, Ashington nearly made a breakthrough when Andrew Johnson drove the ball into the middle but Lee Scott's flicked header went just wide of the post. After 61 minutes, Ashington made a quick break and Joseph Race found himself in the clear but his shot across the goal went well wide of the target. Chester created a good chance after 75 minutes when Nathan Fisher played the ball through to Josh Home-Jackson. He held off a defender to fire in a shot which keeper Karl Dryden saved at full stretch. Ashington made the breakthrough after 79 minutes when a ball into the area was played back to Scott Blandford who drilled the ball low into the corner of the net from the edge of the area. After 81 minutes, Nathan Fisher fired a long-range shot just over the bar. Ashington sealed the result after 82 minutes. Blanford fed Joseph Race who raced into the right side of the box and fire a low drive across the goal which was turned into his own net by Ian Dixon. A disappointing result from a game we looked to be getting something from until the late goals, but it was not a bad performance.
