Chester crashed to another 5-1 defeat at leaders Whitley Bay. Bay took the lead after 12 minutes following a goalmouth scramble. Chester keeper Josh Carmichael made a good stop but the ball came loose and Adam Johnston pounced to fire in. Two minutes later Craig McFarlane went down the right and crossed to near post for Lee Kerr to head goalwards but it was well held by Carmichael. Chester then had a good spell of play and nearly equalised after 23 minutes. A quick break saw Ben Johnson pass to Nathan Fisher and he made some ground before switching the ball wide right to Josh Home-Jackson but his firm shot brought a good save from Tom Kindley as he tipped the ball over the bar at full stretch. Chester continued to press but were caught out after 30 minutes when Richard Hodgson hit a free kick into the area and Chris Reid was not picked up as he ran in to head home. After 37 minutes. Nathan Fished went down the right and pulled the ball back to Craig Price but his shot brought another good save from Kindley. Bay increased their advantage on the stroke of half-time when a Chris Moore corner was headed in by Leon Ryan. Chester nearly pulled a goal back after 47 minutes. A throw in was headed on to Nathan Fisher and he turned well on the edge of the area to power in a shot which brought a great save from Kindley. Chester were caught out by another set piece after 59 minutes when nobody picked up David Coulson as he ran in to head in from another corner. Chester pulled a goal back after 65 minutes when Rob Draper headed in from a Ben Johnson corner. After 72 minutes, Phil Bell made a good break down the left and his low cross into the middle was turned in by Lee Kerr. After 81 minutes, a corner from the right was met by Phil Bell but his header brought a good save from Carmichael. In the 90th minute, Bay lost possession on the right and Nathan Fisher raced through to fire in a shot which brought a good block by Kindley but a defender managed to turn the ball for a corner before it reached Rob Draper. So a second consecutive 5-1 defeat but unlike the previous week, Chester did not play that badly.
