West Allotment Celtic   v   Chester-le-Street     3 - 1

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Once again, Chester failed to take a point of West Allotment as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat. West have won all nine games we have played since they joined the Northern League in 2005. West created the first chance after 3 minutes when a corner was only headed to the edge of the box and Ben Richardson fired in a shot which keeper Josh Carmichael easily tipped over the bar. Chester had a good chance to take the lead after 17 minutes when Ben Johnson moved down the right to hit a low drive across the six-yard box but Nathan Fisher just failed to make contact. Chester took the lead after 23 minutes. Craig Price chased down a poor back-pass to the West keeper. He managed to block the ball which spun high in the air and as it came down he back-heeled the ball and it crept into the net. West then started to take control of the game and it was no surprise when they equalised after 35 minutes. The ball was hit low into the area from the right and as the Chester defenders failed to clear, the ball went out to the left. The ball was returned into the middle and Ian Dunn fired in through a crowd of players. The second half was played under atrocious conditions with rain and a strong, swirling wind. West adapted much better and dominated the half with Chester unable to create any openings. West took the lead after 54 minutes when a corner was played into the area and Craig Scott was left unmarked to head in from close range. West had a chance to increase their lead after 69 minutes when Damian Maw was penalised for a foul but Josh Carmichael saved the weak penalty from Dan Hindmarsh. West sealed the result with a third goal after 87 minutes. Following a Chester corner, West made a quick break and when Ian Dixon missed a tackle just inside the Chester half, West raced forwards. Josh Carmichael made a great block from the first effort but the ball fell for David Thompson to tap in. Yet another disappointing performance from Chester.
